END GOAL
I had a goal to go to the gym five days in a row. At the end of day three I went to bed with a migraine. On day four I woke up with a migraine. The gym really just was not going to happen.
During my time off from the gym I had time to think about everything that I was doing. I was thinking about the progress that I have been making. I started to get down on myself because I didn't look how I wanted to look at that particular moment.
If you've noticed anything about my posts about my trips to the gym it's that I didn't mention any specific goals. Or rather an end goal. It's really unfair to expect results of any kind overnight. But it's easy to lose track of that.
The intensity and regularity of my workouts has only really increased in the last two weeks. Even in that time I feel a big difference even if I don't see it in the mirror.
Every week I watch the Biggest Loser and I see these people fighting week in and week out for results. You see how it's sometimes hard for them to keep everything in perspective. But when we see flashbacks we see really how far they have come. The same is true for me. I see myself every day, so I can't fully appreciate the changes that are going on all of the time. Until my pants or shirts fit dramatically different, it all seems the same for a while.
You may be asking what my goal is for my new exercise regime. Well, I thought of scene in a movie that I really love. The character really puts it quite plainly when asked what he wanted out of all of his exercise. And I think it's really what we all want, you know, aside from flexibility, health, speed, endurance... If we're all truly honest with ourselves, what we all *really* want is this:
Later all... ;)
